From the streets of Buenos aires to the foothills of the Andes, osprey’s far point 70 is ready for anything. Go ahead and fill it up with heavy mountain gear. The lightwood frame suspension transfers the load from harness to hip belt. A mesh back panel improves ventilation and the mesh on the harness and hip belt reduces chafing under load. The entire suspension stows away under a zippered panel creating a sleek silhouette for transport. Unzip the lockable sliders to access the main compartment. Inside there’s a mesh pocket for small items. Dual compression straps keep cargo from shifting during Transit. Outside you’ll find a zippered front panel slash pocket to keep you organized and sewn attachment points to lash on extra gear. No matter how much you choose to carry, dual compression straps stabilize the load. The main far point 70 pack comes with a detachable far point day pack, perfect for use on trips to the local market or to RECON your route from the high Ridge above base camp.

Near perfect travel pack for city hopping and light hiking I love collecting bags, especially high performance hiking backpacks and versatile travelpacks. I have bags from Osprey, REI, Eagle Creek, Marmot, Camelbak, Deuter, LL Bean, Jansport, Mountainsmith, Kelty and others. Of all these high-quality brands, my favorite has always been Osprey for its superior material and excellent fit. I have a Farpoint 55 for several years and I am happy to get this Farpoint 70 for my husband.

Slightly too big as carry-on airline luggage, well-made rugged pack. For those interested in using this as a carry-on while traveling via air, look elsewhere. Most US airline companies allow a maximum dimension of 22″x14″x9″ for a carry-on luggage, which is basically the smallest roller or a traditional backpack. The Farpoint 70 with the Farpoint Day pack measures 25″ long which is 3 inches too long, and the metal frame prevents any leeway in “squeezing” it into the overhead compartment. With the Farpoint 70, one would have to process it…

To Big for a Carry-On, but a comfortable and rugged travel backpack The Osprey Packs Farpoint 70 Travel Backpack in size MediumLarge, Color Volcanic Gray is made to carry all of your stuff. I was able to fit well over a weeks+ worth of clothes, two sets of shoes, and still have room for more. The frame and shoulder/hip straps were comfortable and easily stow away for airline check in. This is NOT a bag that can be carried on board, nor will it fit in the carry-on bin (esp. on a full flight).
