Fifteen men on the dead man’s chest-

Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!

When young Jim Hawkins discovers a map showing the way to Captain Flint’s treasure, he and Squire Trelawney set sail on the Hispaniola to search for the gold. Little do they know that among their crew is the dastardly pirate Long John Silver. Silver has a devious plan to keep the gold all to himself. Can brave Jim outwit the most infamous pirate ever to sail the high seas? Will he escape from Treasure Island alive?Climb aboard for the swashbuckling adventure of a lifetime. Treasure Islandhas enthralled (and caused slight seasickness) for decades. The names Long John Silver and Jim Hawkins are destined to remain pieces of folklore for as long as children want to read Robert Louis Stevenson’s most famous book. With it’s dastardly plot and motley crew of rogues and villains, it seems unlikely that children will ever say no to this timeless classic. –Naomi Gesinger

Better for a early reader I evaluated three series of abridged/paraphrased classics: Great Illustrated Classics, Stepping Stones, and Classic Starts. I specifically read Treasure Island in all three versions, but also evaluated the Jungle Book and other stories in at least two of the versions.

Great book to introduce classics to young readers Robert Ingpen’s illustrations greatly assist young readers in understanding this classic of 19th century literature. The book itself is of excellent quality and perhaps the best choice you could make as a gift or keepsake for the $14 price at amazon. The amazon guidance is for readers of 10 and up and i would warn that this age level is…

Outstanding Book! Rousing, classic pirate yarn from one of the greats complete with a fine image gallery accessible by handy links from the active table of contents, including several photos of the author from various stages of his life as well as a few illustrations of a book cover, poster art and an image of Jim Hawkins sitting in the apple barrel, listening to the pirates. Great book at an exceptional price!
